Miss Pam & OLLY’s Garden Adventures

In this (12:52) video Miss Pam & OLLY tell the story of two children who adventure through their school gardens and encounter three “fanciful creatures.” Each of the creatures is hiding beneath a particular plant, which the creature describes for the children as a clue in their game of hide-and-seek. The objective is for students to learn to identify the basil, sage and thyme plants in our school gardens.

Teachers: You can show your students this video and then take them on their own Garden Adventures to discover a few fanciful creatures for themselves.

To make sure your students’ adventures are successful, contact Pam Grugan BEFORE you wish to take your students into the gardens. Pam will place the creatures for you, or you could check with the office staff for the box of (breakable) creatures and place them in our school gardens yourself.

Benny Bear Beneath the Basil, Sally Snail Beneath the Sage and Tillie Turtle Beneath the Thyme are essential for this activity. The other creatures can be added for more fun discoveries.

Under the tutelage of Mrs. Anne Rahoi, JV students created this Garden Menagerie.
